We are Cafés Solidaires, an academic association registered with the University of Geneva. To carry out our projects, we work with various partners, including: Adepsy, Adese, Aespri, AGPsy, Amnesty Unige, CGTF, CUAE, GSI, Inzone, SDSA, UNIGE'help.
The Cafés are a place for casual meetings and exchanges between the university community and the migrant population. Over a nice cup of coffee or tea and a croissant, these meetings bring together migrants, students and university staff to discuss various topics, practise French, discover life in Geneva and integrate into the city, discover new horizons, new cultures, and simply make real friends!
Cafés are not a place for “volunteering”: we all benefit from the interactions that take place there because we feel comfortable, we learn lots of things, and we are never alone!
The first Cafés Solidaires took place in 2017 and continue to this day during the academic year every Wednesday morning from 9am to 11am in the university cafeteria located in the Uni Mail building (on the tram side). Since 2025, Evening Cafés have been launched and take place during the academic year every Thursday from 6pm to 8pm at the Plainpalais Community Centre (1 rue de la Tour, 1205 Geneva). We also have partner cafés and restaurants that offer discounts to our migrant members, as well as a parent's table during the Morning Cafés where you can discuss various topics related to children and school with experts.
So please feel free to come and have a coffee with us and chat for a while, for as long as you like. It's free and there's no obligation!
If you are unable to attend our meetings in person but would like to support us in our efforts, you can help us by making a donation to cover some of our costs (drinks and snacks).
